Many Apprehensive About The New Year

Many Jamaicans celebrated the New Year with a renewed sense of hope and optimism. There was the usual parties at Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston and Cable and Wireless Golf Academy with French Connection. Of course many celebrated with the many midnight Mass that could be found in many of the churches around the island.

Located by Mas Camp at the Red Planet were live performances by Beenie Man, and Christopher Martin among others. Many of the patrons there expresessed joy at seeing the New Year. This sentiment was expressed moreso by those who lost love ones in 2007.

As reported by the Jamaican Observer, packed watch night service at Fellowship Tabernacle on Half-Way-Tree Road, a message of covenants and blessings was transmitted via a wedding skit. 'Enter the Covenant. A guaranteed blessing' was the theme and the congregation prayed, sang and listened to exhortations between scenes. Two women there, who gave their names only as Auntie Mitsie and Jackie, wished that 2008 would bring a return of "the good old days"
