Anti -Human-Trafficking Unit
I think this is the best news I have heard recently coming out of Jamaica. I am a staunch advocate of ending the trafficking in Jamaica. The Jamaican Cabinet has approved the establishment of a unit within the Ministry of National Security's Policy Directorate to focus on human trafficking.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Gilbert Scott also said Cabinet approved the establishment of a protective facility which will be used to house victims of human traffickers.
The Permanent Secretary said the government was committed to punishing the offenders, noting a letter has been sent to the Police Commissioner requesting that the police increase efforts to investigate and arrest persons engaged in human trafficking.
