Congratulations to Bolt- Order of Jamaica

This award will make Bolt the youngest-ever recipient of the Order of Jamaica. Bolt recently celebrated his 23rd birthday.

In making the announcement, Golding noted that when the honor was bestowed on the world-record holder in both the 100 and 200 meters, he would be referred to as 'The Honorable' Mr Bolt.

The Order of Jamaica entitles members and honorary members to wear the Insignia of the Order as a decoration, be addressed as 'honorable' and use the post nominal letters 'OJ' (members) or 'OJ (Hon)' for honorary members.

Jamaican legislature yesterday, also said Cabinet on Monday gave approval for Bolt to be appointed an ambassador-at-large and be accorded full diplomatic status.

In recognition of the outstanding record-breaking performance by Bolt at both the Olympics in Beijing,China and his recent mind-boggling run at the World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany, Golding said Highway 2000 would be renamed after the sprint sensation.

This is a well deserved award. Our Jamaican athletes have made Jamaicans proud.

Five Jamaican athletes were cleared Monday of doping at their national championships two months ago after the country's anti-doping panel failed to determine whether the banned substance was on the prohibited list.

The athletes reportedly tested positive for the stimulant methylhexanamine. But Kent Gammon, chairman of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission's disciplinary committee, said it was unable to prove they had breached any doping policy.

"Therefore, we have not found any of the athletes in violation of the (anti-doping) code," Gammon said.

The athletes had previously been identified as Yohan Blake, Sheri-Ann Brooks, Allodin Fothergill, Lansford Spence and Marvin Anderson.
