How to cook rice and peas

I really like the way this person does her cooking videos. She is right even though you use red kidney beans Jamaicans call it "rice and peas"- not rice and beans.

Eat More Cassava!

That is the feeling of Agriculture Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton. He continues to stress the need for the country to change its consumption patterns in the face of rising and the high food import bill.

I mean how can you tell a country whose staple is "rice an peas" that they are to eat cassava as a replacement? Dr. Tufton said this would see planting and consuming done in within those institutions as they have an immediate demand for starches.


Dr. Tufton said the government will also be pushing for the production and consumption of other locally grown starches such as yams and sweet potato.
