Tonya Brown, 36, and David Stewart, 34, who US officials believed were members of the infamous drug ring, were extradited to the United States on May 22 to face charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, crack.
"From March 2003 to May 2007, Brown and Stewart, and co-defendant, were a part of a Jamaican drug organisation in Utica, New York which sold crack cocaine," said Williams-Richards.

Amnesty International Criticized Jamaican Police Force
The Amnesty report cited the case of 17-year-old Carlton Grant who was shot dead by police on August 23 in downtown, Kingston and 13-year-old Jevaughn Robinson who was fatally shot in the head by the police on September 22 in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
"In September, Parliament passed bills to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court and Appeal Court. However, despite these moves national human rights organizations have pointed to continued chronic problems with the judiciary, including severe delays in cases being heard, unavailability of jurors, witness absenteeism and sporadic court scheduling," according to the Amnesty report.
Whatever the findings, the fact is if you cannot go to those who were entrusted to protect you for help, then who do you go to?

Happy Labor Day
Before 1961, May 24 was celebrated in Jamaica as Empire Day in honour of the birthday of Queen Victoria and her emancipation of slaves in Jamaica.[4] As its name suggests, the day was used to celebrate the British Empire and England, complete with flag-raising ceremonies and the singing of patriotic songs.
In 1961, Jamaican Chief Minister Norman Washington Manley proposed the replacement of Empire Day with Labour Day, a celebration in commemoration of May 23, 1938, when Alexander Bustamante led a labour rebellion leading to Jamaican independence.
Until May 23, 1971, Labour Day was primarily a trade unions celebration with public rallies and marches.[4] On occasion, opposing trade unions clashed on this day, so in 1972, Jamaican Prime Minister Michael Manley promoted Labour Day as a showcase for the importance of labour to the development of Jamaica, and a day of voluntary community participation to beneficial projects.[4] Since then, Labour Day has not only been a public holiday, but also a day of mass community involvement around the country.

Usain Bolt Survives Car Crash
This past Tuesday Usain Bolt and two passengers survived Tuesday's car crash on Highway 2000. I think this is a wakeup call to so many who speed on the road like they are U.S. Nascar drivers.
Bolt's car had been travelling into Kingston from Clarendon when the accident occurred. The road was slippery from afternoon showers.
Bolt and a female passenger were taken to a hospital in Spanish Town, near Kingston, where the Jamaican sprinter was treated before being sent home.
It has long been a tradition or a cultural experience for drivers to use the highways with reckless abandon. I remember growing up Jamaica and everyone drove like they owned the road. You either kept up or got ran off the road.According to the Jamaican Observer, Dr Lucien Jones , head of the National of the National Road Safety Council," Jamaicans need to take much more seriously the issue of road safety."
As at 30 April, the number of fatal crashes for 2009 stood at 110, with 123 fatalities, similar to the statistics for 2008 for the same four-month period - 114 fatal crashes and 123 fatalities.
