JAMALCO on Strike

ImageA 72-hour strike notice is to be served on the Management Department of JAMALCO in Clarendon Friday morning.

The notice is on behalf of 150 technical and supervisory workers who are represented by the Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel (UTASP).

The union said the workers have been restive for some time over the company's failure to honour a 1997 agreement involving the government, unions and bauxite companies.

It called for bauxite workers to accept moderate increases to their 1998 Salaries in lieu of land.
