Jamaica Festival is a week-long celebration to mark the nation's tremendous achievements over 47 years of Independence. Other major activities will include Emancipation Vigils, August' Fair, World Reggae Dance, Jamaica Gospel Song Finals, a Emancipation/Independence Forum along with the spectacular Independence Float Parade and Grand Gala on August 6.

Despite the economic hardships hitting Jamaica, the JCDC (Jamaica Cultural Development Commision) has managed to source $90 million dollars in sponsorship this year. The theme this year is, "I BELIEVE." It is nice to see some positive stories admist all the mayhem.

Scheduled for this Thursday (July 30) at the National Arena, this year's event is inspired by the acclaimed series 'Ring Ding' hosted by the Hon Louise Bennett-Coverley.
