John Legend Joins Smile Jamaica

Well another "legend" (no pun intended) joins Smile Jamaica. Well the talent is just growing for the "Smile Jamaica" concert this Saturday at Oracabessa. The Smile Jamaica-Africa Unite concert will be the Grammy winner's third performance in Jamaica.

12 Tribes an All White Affair

Get ready for the biggest White Party ever as the the Twelve Tribes of Israel , an organization founded by the Prophet Gad, Doctor Vernon Carrington.

The concept of the Twelve Tribes of Israel is that each month of the year represents a Tribe. January - Naptali, February - Joseph, March - Benjamin, April - Rueben, May - Simeon, June - Levi, July - Judah, August - Issachar, September - Zebulun, October - Dan, November - Gad, December - Asher, and to complete the body, Sister Dinah.
Additionally colours were assigned to each month. The colours are silver, gold, purple, brown, yellow, pink, blue, red, grey, green, white, black and many colors for Sis Dinah respectively.

In commemoration of this on February 23rd there will be a large concert at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Center. Scheduled to perform are Luciano, Ken Boothe, Morgan Heritage, Tarrus Riley, Sugar Minott and many more.

Diana Ross Booed at Air Jamaica Jazz/Blues

I was very surprised to read this morning in the Observer, where Diana Ross (The Diva) was booed relentlessly Sunday at the Festival. It seems the Diva did not want her image recorded anywhere, so she was adamant about no big screens inside the venue.
I just want to say that I remember seeing her concert on HBO in the early 1990's in Central Park
and there were big screens galore. Many of these celebs forget that as you start aging and relying on your previous fame (ala Michael Jackson) that you need as much "positive" press as you can.

Quoted from the Observer, "failure to interact with the audience added insult to injury as people in the middle of the gathering started to sound their discontent. This quickly transferred to the VIP section, which, though closer to the stage, still did not provide its
inhabitants with a clear view."

An Irate Patron shouted,"Dem shoulda throw bottle pon har, all 20,000 people in di venue."

The Gleaner has learnt that Ross was paid US$300,000 (J$21 million) to perform on the show.

Movado Banned From Show in Trinidad

Movado was banned from the show, "Best of Both Worlds" on January 19th in Trinidad. Hot 97, a radio station on the island stated the the lyrical contents was named for the reason that permission was not granged to the artist. This was not the first time Mavado was being banned from a Caribbean Island. Similarly he was banned from a show in Grenada. What I don't understand is how can you ban someone then play their music on your radio station. Isn't that hypocritical?
