I have to say Big Up to Hellshire Beach. I remember when I was a little girl in Jamaica and my Auntie use to take me there. It is located near the town of Portmore, St. Catherine. It is a popular beach, not only for the local residents but for people who live in Kingston as well.
I know many people are more partial to the beach on the NorthCoast of the Island, but when you can't drive way out there Hellshire will do. In the Southcoast of Jamaica, there are actually a number of little small beaches along that coast. Moretime Local residents go there, but Hellshire's black sand and cool, clear waters make this one appealing as well.
Some of the shows at Hellshire Beach are legendary and draw extremely large crowds to its shores. Beauty contests, concerts, and various other activities keep this beach active and packed on the weekends. Food can be found from numerous local vendors and the facilities are adequate for a few hours on the beach. (although you may have to travel a ways).
