Dennis Brown's Celebration a Hit

Word is Sugar Minott tore up the stage at the Friday night at the Dennis Brown celebration, sponsored by the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artist and Affiliation. (JAVAA). The event was held at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston. The sudden death, at 42, of Jamaican singer Dennis Emmanuel Brown, affectionately called 'D Brown', on July 1, 1999 sent a shock throughout the world of reggae and robbed the music of its most popular ever grassroots performer.

Their were close to 30 acts. Some of the artist were Bunny Brown, Derrick Harriot (I used to love this man), Ken Boothe, John Holt, Dwight Pinkney, the Tamlins, Lloyd Parkes, Bob Andy, Boris Gardiner, and so many more.

Of course as previously stated though Sugar Minott was the one who the crowd seemed to react more to. As usual all I can do is read of these wonderful events but hopefully I wish one day to go back there.
