Two women came to blows over seats in a going from Portmore to downtown Kingston. Come on now is that necessary. People can fight over some stupid things though.
This was reported by

"The women were arrested after they traded fists over the scarce and precious commodity called a bus seat.
The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m., during the peak hour traffic, after a bus plying the Portmore to downtown Kingston  route stopped in Parade, downtown Kingston, to pick up and let off passengers. It is reported that persons rushed into the bus to secure the limited number of seats causing them to become scarce quickly. One of the women sat on a seat and placed her belongings beside her. Brown's Town David Whitehorne- Basketball Star

Well one cannot miss David Whitehorne when he is walking to his classes at Brown's Town High in Saint Anns. Why? Because David is only 15, but he is 6feet 10 inches tall. His one desire to play "basketball."

David is quoted as saying "It's basketball I love. I don't see anything on earth I love like basketball. Mi just waan get into the game and play, play fi mi country and thing," he said. "At Brown's Town High they used to play but they stop. I just want to get into a school where they play basketball."

His mother Hyacinth states,"
Growing up he had always been tall. At basic school he was the tallest in class, at grade six in primary school he was the tallest in the entire school, even taller than the teachers," recalled Whitehorne. "I was saying to myself, oh my God, no man, this must be some blessing or something."

Legalize It, Don't Despise It

Well, I don't know I feel about this article. According to thewest.com Jamaican legislation is considering legalizing marijuana. I feel that growing up in Jamaica, marijuana has always been around. Now I read that Jamaica is now considering legalizing it. I have mixed feelings about this. Personally I feel it will bring good money to the country.

Then on the flipside I feel that this will increase the criminal element in the country.

I don't know if anyone remembers that tobacco and alcohol were one taboo items. People had to hide and manufacturer alcohol (in some states) in the hills (moonshine). Once tobacco farming became popular (and a glut happened in the market) then the price went down.

I wonder how much would one charge for a marijuana joint? In Jamaica they don't use little papers. I have seen people use newspaper and once I saw someone use a paper bag.

In 2003, a government commission recommended legalising marijuana in small amounts for personal use. But lawmakers never acted, saying legalisation might entail loss of their country's US anti-drug certification. Countries that lose it face economic sanctions. A US State Department report on Friday said Jamaica is the largest producer of marijuana in the Caribbean and a major hub for drugs bound for the US.

Finance Minister Robbed-17 million dollars

The image “http://www.moa.gov.jm/pca/cpr/articles/img/sugar_sign_pic1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

How can the the Ministry of Finance get robbed? I am over here shaking my head. It seems between August and October of this year this money was taken from the
Ministry of Finances Headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica.

The money had been seized from a person who had been under investigation (no name was given). Minister,
Audley Shaw and Deputy Don Wehby stated they were taking the matter seriously and currently waiting for a detailed report.

I don't know but that amount of money doesn't just walk away. Sadly, sometime internal thief at establishments takes longer to detect then a upfront robbery.

Noel Racked Havoc On Some Parts of Jamaica

The Aftermath of Tropical Storm Noel continues to devaste the island. Still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Dean, residents of Jamaica deal with this new assault by nature. The Office of Diaster Preparedness and Emergency Management(ODPEM) working with the JDF (Jamaica Defense Force) have assisted in having food and other supplies airlifted to marooned residents in St. Thomas and surrounding areas.

Hurricane Clean Up Efforts Underway

Well, as most of us remember, two months ago Hurricane Dean devastated the island of Jamaica.
Many parts of the island still remain under heavy debris and suffer many food shortages.
According to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), there is no set time when the backhoe and truck operators will be paid.
This has caused several demonstrations by these groups outside of the Metropolitan Parks and Market offices on Half-Way Tree Road. The exact money owed has not been stated.

One truck driver who requested anonymity told the Jamaican Observer that he has had to park his truck for some time now as he is no longer able to afford to buy gas oil for the vehicle.
He explained that a drum of gas oil cost $12,000 and can only last for two days.

"So when you spend so much money buy gas oil you can't see the money coming in then you can't afford to buy more to go back on another work," he said.

I hope the new government is able to assist in these efforts, as quickly as possible.
