Are Artist influencing the Children with Bad Lyrics?

I know we have a lot of artist out there who don't really care about the contents of their songs, but rather the amount of money they can accumulate. I am wondering though if they would allow their own kids to sing some of the songs they record. According to an article in the star, one such artist, Elephant man does recognize the influence he has over the children.

Slang specialist' Elephant Man said he is aware that he influences children with the many slangs that he has created and made popular.

"Anything weh mi seh de kids dem go wid it. Di kids are one of di first set that hang on to it (slangs). When yuh hear di kids with it, yuh know seh de slang shot," Elephant Man told THE STAR.

Children are often heard using some of the slangs Ele uses, like 'mucho', 'tranquelo', 'shizzle', 'mi linky' and 'caliente'. However, he maintained that the children used these to greet each other.

In addition, he said slang was very popular in garrison areas.

In Jamaican many children do use the "dancehall" slang in their everyday conversations. I feel however it is just the same as when I was growing up in Jamaica, that we heard the slang, but we knew to speak properly when we were at home (in front of our parents), and also at school.

Paul and Patrick Gaynor, known as the dancehall duo, Twin of Twins were taken into custody yesterday by the Halfway Tree Police. The brothers are accused of taking $50,000 from an upcoming artist, under the guise that they were able to give him the opportunity to travel to the United States of America to perform.

So many entertainers getting caught up in madness, due to being greedy.

Blak Ryno Detained at a Gaza Link-Up Party

http://www.bigupmagazin.de/web/images/stories/worldreport/newstah/web_Ryno.jpg

THE STAR has reported that learnt that Blay Ryno was among the men that were detained by the police while at a Gaza Link-Up party in Ocho Rios, this past Saturday. The party was in full swing, police and soldiers swooped down on the newly opened venue, ordering an end to the music and patrons to go outside.

Everyone was then searched and those who could not provide proper identification for themselves were detained and taken to the grounds of the Mobile Reserve in Kingston where they were processed.

The club was also searched. A patron at the scened was quoted as saying, "Di party a gwaan and bout 3:30 a.m., whole heap a police jus come in a seh di music fi lock off ... . Police and soldier surround di building and tell everybody fi leave ... who neva have nuh propa ID did haffi go pan di truck,"

There are going to be more crackdowns like this as the police try to clean up the corruption in the music industry. I am not a fan of this artist, but I feel that no one should be above scrutiny when it comes to the law.

Mad Lion Back On Track

Mad Lion has recently gone back in the studio and has vowed to bring back love of dancehall music again. I hear yuh Lion. Right now there is too much jealousy and bickering going on between many of the artist. It was like when you put Biggie Smalls and Tupac on the stage, bound to be some controversy.

Recently Mad Lion echoed the same sentiment to a reporter with the Jamaican Observer. He was quoted as saying, " Lamenting on the state of dancehall music, he noted, "Everybody is so mad at each other. And this is reflected in the lyrics - guns, murder, violence. All this does is stall real creativity and eventually the music will fall into a rut." Currently in the island doing some work with producer Paul 'Scatta' Burrell, the British-born Mad Lion says this is his first visit to Jamaica in 10 years, but he has been keeping abreast with trends and movements and that was one of the main reasons he opted to work with Scatta, a producer known for delivering infectious dancehall riddims.

Mi Nah Guh A Jail Again

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioassets/photos/2006/8/1/2121_2.jpg

Well, I think singer, Mavado has to stop singing this song by "busy Signal", cause it doesn't ring true for him. Why, successful artist have to still think they are "badman?" I don't understand. You have a rising career. You have money, cars, women, why would you jeopardize your freedom for a "rep?"

Movado, also known as "David Brooks" (27) has been charged with two counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm. Head of the Major Investigation Task Force Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Greene said Movado will remain in custody for at least another 24 hours.

If Movado doesn't change his lifestyle then his single "dying" is gonna come true, because the life we live is sometimes how we die.

Let's Get Physical

This is the title of the upcoming release by "Elephant Man" on the Bad Boy label. He reported to the Observer, that he was missing in action, because he was in the studios trying to "bang out the right sound."

Dancehall King, Elephant Man, will release his latest studio CD, “Let’s Get Physical,” on April 8, 2008. This venture with Sean Combs on the Bad Boys Records has been a long time coming. The star-studded project is the first release from a new venture which joins Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records with the largest independent Jamaican music label, VP Records. “Let’s Get Physical” features the hit lead single “Five O,” on which Wyclef appears.

Elephant man states the reason for his collaboration with so many foreign stars is ""We wanted to keep the dancehall vibe but we're trying to please a lot of the other markets, so we give everybody a lickle ting."

Dancehall Fashion Styles

Dancehall is now setting the trend for Fashion Styles in Jamaica. This has long been the case though. Some trends are from the United States and Europe, but Jamaica is creating some of its own styles as well.

Munga Honorebel Attacks Deva Bratt

The funny thing is this was dubbed, "The Stone Love Anniversary." There was no love when a boxing match broke out at the concert, held on December 16. Well, if you have a song which attacks people this can happen. In his song "Talk Dem A Talk," he openly disses Deva Bratt.

Deva Bratt, who was also at the concert, tried to rush the stage during the sung and get hit on the head with the mike by Munga. Boy is it that serious that people have to be fighting at a concert? Deva Bratt was also reportedly pulled a knife.
