Beenie Man Cleared of Tax Evasion

Beenie Man has been cleared of Tax Evasion by Judge Owen Parkin. He threw out the case Tuesday, ruling evidence which showed the entertainer was not informed of his rights when auditors issued their assessment last year.

No Show At Lady Saw's Birthday Party

You know the worst thing is to throw a party and no one shows up. Well, people did show up to Lady Saw's party last week, held at the Reggae Beach. (outside of Ocho Rios). Scheduled were Remy Ma, Terror Squad, Freddie McGregor, Sanchez, Beenie Man, Sizzla and Elephant man.

Reggae Stars Busted for Drug Use?

Police in the Swedish city of Uppsala say several musicians involved in this year's Uppsala Reggae Festival have been arrested in a drug bust. Police spokesperson Christer Nordstrom said several of the festival artists were involved when police obtained blood samples from nearly 50 individuals suspected of drug offenses this week.

Some of the artist that performed at this concert included, Sean Paul, Derrick Morgan, Tarrus Riley, Queen Ifrica, Luciano, Beenie Man and Irie Love to name a few.

TMZ has reported that Sean Paul was brought from the huge Uppsala Reggae Festival to a local police station on suspicion of possessing narcotics. It was also stated that r 200-300 people also were brought in from the Fest this weekend, also on drug-related charges.

Now why do Reggae artist feel they can go and smoke a doobie in someone else's country? I feel "all" of them went down there for questioning.

Well, claims are out there that Beenie Man (who we also know as "The Doctor) took a 2 million dollar bribe to perform at the Boxing Day Show called, "Sting." According to Beenie Man, " Laing afta him threaten mi sey if mi guh pon radio guh talk sem mi nah do Sting again mi a guh get it"

Isaiah Laing, is currently the promoter of the Sting tour. Beenie Man claims he is definitely not going to perform this year. According to the Jamaican Star, Beenie claims he is not going to perform this year.

I like Beenie Man, however I feel that some of his popularity has gone to his head. Yes, he is a good artist but when you miss shows or say you are cancelling gigs, fans can sometimes not be that forgiving. I thing with Mavado and Bounty Killa being on the list that nobody is not really caring if Beenie show up or not. As for the money, he probably was offered the money to perform, wheter he took the money or not is another story.

Word has it that Beenie Man will be called to the stage at the American Music Awards show by Alicia Keys. He will be singing his crossover hit, "Who Am I." Beenie Man and Barbee (whom it is reported will be walking the red carpet at the American Music Awards with him), appear on an official remix of Alicia's current Billboard R&B chart-topper No One.

Beenie Man-nuh fraid of deh tax mon

Well, I guess it doesn't matter what country you live in, Taxes have to be paid. This was a hard, expensive lesson that Beenie Man (Moses Davis) has to come to gripes with. Yesterday, Shocking Vibes was taken to task by Alexander who accused the record company of contributing to the artiste's non-payment of taxes. He in fact said that Shocking Vibes ought to take responsibility for the money owed.

The Tax Administration Department has said that the artiste owes income taxes that have not been paid since 1996. According to the claim, the artiste owes the state $47 million, $29 million of which is unpaid taxes with penalty of $18 million.

You know why do artist think they are above the law. It is sad, if you or I, the average person did not pay our taxes even within a year, we would be under the jail so fast by the IRS. Well, since I don't think in this lifetime or the next I will be owing that much money, I think I have nothing to worry about.
